Caring for your shipment of tubers while waiting for planting. Keep your tubers in a dark basement that does not freeze or garage. Keep them on a shelf or off the concrete floor as that will pull the moisture from them. You can choose to pot them up to get a start on growing them indoors when you receive your tubers. Dahlia tubers will wake up from storage at 60 degrees and above. Some varieties take longer to sprout than others. Dahlias will bloom 6 to 8 weeks after planting.

Dahlias should be planted after all risk of frost has passed and when the ground temperature is around 60 degrees. Dahlias should be planted in a sunny location and not watered till the plant has 3 sets of leaves. The tuber is at risk of rotting if watered. So check the weather before planting your tubers.

Happy Growing
